Energy costs are a significant impost on viability for all operatives in the dairy sector.
This project examines how renewable energy technologies and business models can be exploited to reduce costs and share new revenue in ways that underpin the long-term viability of the industry. Specifically, it will investigate; solar, wind, gas, storage, novel generator-retailer agreements, Virtual Power Plants, Peer-to-peer trading and other collaborative energy opportunities. This active research project will establish the need for, and feasibility of, a range of potential projects which can then be taken with confidence to market or government for further development and implementation.
